321 stainless steel is Ni-Cr-Ti austenitic stainless steel, its performance is very similar to 304, but because of the addition of titanium metal, so that it has better grain boundary corrosion resistance and high temperature strength.The formation of chromium carbide is effectively controlled by adding titanium metal.321 stainless steel has excellent high temperature stress breaking performance and high temperature creep resistance.
TP 321 is a stable stainless steel with the primary advantage of excellent intergranular corrosion resistance after exposure to chromium carbide precipitation temperatures ranging from 800°F to 1500°F (427°C to 816°C).Alloy 321 stainless steel tubes are stabilized to form chromium carbide by adding titanium.
The 321 321H stainless steel is a titanium stabilized version of the 304 for specific applications in the sensitization temperature range.Its resistance to sensitization, coupled with its high strength at high temperatures, makes it suitable for applications where 304 will be sensitized or 304L has insufficient thermal strength.No weld rot intergranular corrosion occurs when exposed to mild corrosion.However, weld 321 should never be used in a highly oxidized environment because it is susceptible to "knife line" erosion.However, in operating temperatures in excess of 500° C, the 321 is a better choice and therefore has its own advantages.Alloy 321 stainless steel tube is also conducive to high temperature use due to its good mechanical properties.Alloy 321 stainless steel has higher creep and stress fracture characteristics than alloy 304, especially alloy 304L can also be considered for sensitive and intergranular corrosion problems.
